We discussed the importance of posting before and after images, your team in action, sharing new products and tools, providing your expert advice, and being wary of the sorts of discounts you offer online. Now we will cover some more of what is great to post on the socials, and how to maximise platforms like Instagram and Facebook with your salon knowledge.
6. Inspirational and/or funny quotes
Instagram users will tell you one thing – that inspirational quotes and short points of advice to motivate audiences are one of the most popular themes on the platform. These types of posts seek to put a smile on followers’ faces and get them to genuinely ‘like’ you. If you post them sparingly, they tend to encourage quite a bit of engagement, and if the post speaks to your audience, people love to share them and tag their friends in the comments.
Quotes are also a great opportunity to share the types of things your brand stands for, whether it’s spiritual, inspiring, funny, or upmarket and professional. Don’t forget to break it up with some funny quotes too, like how coffee is a necessity when it comes to starting early in the mornings!
7. Salon photos
Instagram, and Facebook alike, are great platforms for humanising your salon and its hairstylists. They give audiences a sneak peak at what goes on behind the scenes, and is a fantastic way to show followers what it’s like to work there (also amazing for your recruiting efforts and attracting new stylists).
Show your followers the comfortable massage recliners you have just waiting for them to relax in as they get their treatments done, or that your new floating shelves have arrived and you can’t wait to put all your products on display in the front waiting area. Always remember to humanise your pictures; it’s the best way to get followers connecting with you so they can turn into your clients.
8. Customer testimonials
Just like your inspirational and motivation quotes, get the word out there that your salon has positive feedback from its clientele. Be proud that you make people happy and feel good about themselves! With Facebook, you can easily feature an entire two-paragraph (or longer, if you wish!) testimonial, and have it accompanied with a photo of the client. With Instagram, take the sentence you deem most impacting and share it as a quote.
You can gain even more trust amongst your followers, and your current clients, by establishing yourself with social proof that your clientele love the work your salon does.
9. Get on the trend bandwagon
People post a lot of things on social media, and its almost always images of current trends that become the most liked. You want your audience to know that you’re up-to-date with what’s new in your industry, so make sure you share some of the work that is 100% on trend. One of the hottest this season on Instagram is hologram hair and other pastel colours. While the trend is a bold one, letting yourself and your colourists have a bit of fun might not be such a bad idea! Especially if you have a client who is happy to go along with it! Who wouldn’t share that sort of hair styling project on all the socials?!
10. Appointment availability
A vast majority of people are spontaneous when it comes to making appointments, and if they spot an available sitting for tomorrow in their newsfeed, they are more inclined to pick up the phone and make that booking. It’s there, it’s in front of them, they don’t have to go any further than that – you want to make it as easy as possible for them to get through your doors and into that chair. So newsfeed it!
